Wow, what a week. This week started out with me personally celebrating my daughter, Halaya’s 16th birthday with a surprise party at Hubbards.

Guess who else turned 16 this week, OHS student Cruz Skinner.

Cruz Skinner

Cruz was recognized by Alabama Secretary of State, John Merrill, for his work with Alabama’s Click it or Ticket campaign. It was a great day having our Secretary of State on campus.

This is the note he left us in our Innovation Station.

Speaking of Innovation, the furniture arrived this week for our innovation stations that are going in on the 3rd floor of our Media Center. We can’t wait for this to be installed and fully functional. This is going to be a great place for our students to collaborate, make, and do. We are excited about the things that our students will accomplish in this space.

We also had some awesome team planning sessions this week. We were able to use evidence to plan, so we can meet our students where they are. We started by looking at reading data to guide our planning. We used STAR reading data and ACT data. We had powerful conversations on Lexile bands.

We kicked off our traveling pep rallies Friday at Dearmanville Elementary School and then headed to Oxford Elementary School.

These were complete with Jacket Hugs and Coach Honaker’s traditional explanation of our Alma Mater.

I think it’s obvious that we had a great week, and it’s safe to say… the Yellow Jackets are All In.

Go Big O!
